Got a Question? We’ve got answers!

Why choose Uxbridge Physiotherapy?

Our clinic has been serving the Uxbridge and surrounding areas for over 20 years, and has a solid reputation in our town and within the local health care community.  We book a maximum of two patients per hour, which gives our patients quality treatment time, in order to deliver care that is specific to their needs, and answer their individual questions.  All of our staff are caring and committed to ongoing continuing education, to ensure you are receiving the most up-to-date, evidence-based treatment possible.

Do I need a doctor’s referral?

You do not need a doctor’s referral in order to have Physiotherapy or Massage Therapy.  If your extended health benefits insurance plan requires a doctor’s referral in order for you to be re-imbursed for the cost of your treatment, you will need to submit the doctor’s referral to your insurance company.

If I have a referral, Xrays or MRI’s, do I need to bring them?

If you have hardcopies of referrals or test results, it is helpful for us to see them at your initial assessment.  Our office can call your doctor and have reports sent to our office as well.

Does OHIP cover the cost of treatment?

No – OHIP does not cover the services at our clinic.

How are the clinic’s services covered?

Many extended health benefits plans cover Physiotherapy and Massage Therapy.  Check to see if you require a physician’s referral or not. We require payment for services each time you attend, or you may leave your credit card information on file and we will bill you at the end of each month.

Do you treat WSIB injuries?

We are not able to bill directly to WSIB for treatment of work injuries that have an active claim.

Do you treat Motor Vehicle Accident Injuries?

Yes – we treat motor vehicle accident injuries, and will bill directly to your car accident and extended health insurance benefit plans for our services.

Where are the nearest OHIP and WSIB clinics?

Stouffville Physiotherapy and Port Perry Physiotherapy may offer OHIP and WSIB treatment.

Do you treat neurological injuries (strokes, Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis, etc.)?

We specialize in orthopaedic and sports injuries, however all our therapists are fully qualified to assess and treat all types of injuries. We are able to treat some neurological conditions, please call the clinic to inquire.

What can I expect at my first visit?

After providing some intake information to us, your Physiotherapist or Massage Therapist will complete a detailed subjective history, followed by a comprehensive objective assessment. This will lead into an explanation of our findings and outline what we suggest for treatment. Your first visit will include some treatment, and lead into a plan for follow-up visits, including education on care and exercises to be done at home. This will take place confidentially, in a comfortable and relaxed environment.

What do I wear to my appointments?

You should wear or bring comfortable clothes you can move and bend in.  If your injury is your low back or in your legs, please wear or bring shorts.  For ladies, if your injury is in your upper back, neck or arms, please wear or bring a sleeveless or tank top.  We have shorts and tanks tops in our clinic, in case you forget. We have an accessible change room beside our waiting room.

How long are the appointments?

Your Physiotherapy Assessment will be approximately one hour.  Follow-up Physiotherapy visits are at least 30 minutes, but you should ask your Physiotherapist after your Assessment.  Massage Therapy appointments are 30, 45 or 60 minutes. We recommend a minimum of 45 minutes for your initial Massage Therapy appointment.

How do I book appointments?

Please call our clinic or visit us during business hours to book an appointment.  You can visit the “Request Appointment” tab on our website to send a message to us, and we will contact you to book an appointment.   Alternatively, you can email our office at admin@uxbridgephysiotherapy.com to book an appointment.

What are my payment options?

We accept cash, debit, VISA, MasterCard and cheques.

Do you direct bill to insurance companies?

Currently, we do not bill directly to insurance companies for our services, with the exception of motor vehicle accidents and Veterans Affairs.  When you pay for treatment, you will receive an invoice with your therapist’s billing number on it, which you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
